On the Record Support
How to run and play an office pool in On the Record, plus troubleshooting and privacy.
Get started
Sign in with your email; there is no password.
Enter your email and tap Send me a code. Type the six-digit code from the email. The first time, choose the name other players will see; you can change it later on the You tab.
Start a league
On the My week or Leagues tab, tap Start a league. Name it, choose football or basketball, Simple or Expert, and a format. You become its commissioner.
Join a league
Open the invite link someone shared, or tap Join with a code and type the eight-character code. You see the league's name, format and commissioner before you join.
Play in a browser
Everything works in a web browser too: open the On the Record web app and sign in with the same email.
Make your picks
Picks save as you go; each game locks at its own kickoff.
Every Game
Tap the team you think will win each game. To pick every open game at once, tap Home teams or Away teams under Quick fill; you can change any pick afterward.
Best 5
In basketball, the league plays five featured games each week: pick the winner of each. In football, pick games and star your best; only starred picks count.
Confidence
Pick every game, then use the up and down arrows to rank them. A right pick scores its rank.
Last One Standing
Pick one team to win this week. Teams you have already used are marked Used. A loss puts you out.
Tiebreaker
Some formats ask for the total points in one game, named on the sheet. The closest guess wins a tie in the standings.
Locked games
Once a game starts, its pick is locked on the record and says Locked. Nobody, commissioner included, can change it.
Standings and the record
Every number can be checked.
Why this score?
Tap anyone in the standings to see their week pick by pick: each pick's worth, what it earned, and the tiebreaker.
Season
Switch the standings to Season for the table so far, from finished weeks. Tap a player for their week-by-week history.
The Record
Everyone's picks, shown as each game starts. Before kickoff a pick is sealed for everyone.
Receipts
Every saved pick, lock, rule change and member change, timestamped. Nothing in it can be edited or deleted.
For commissioners
League settings, from the league's page.
Rules
Rules read as sentences; tap an underlined phrase to change it. A change never touches a week that has started.
Players without the app
Add someone by name, then choose them under Picking for on the pick sheet and enter their picks. Start from my picks copies your open picks as a starting point.
Manage players
Tap a player to make them a co-commissioner or remove them. A removed player leaves from the next week that hasn't started; weeks already played keep their results.
Reminders
On iPhone.
Turn them on
After you finish your picks the app offers a reminder; tap Remind me and allow notifications. You can also do it from You.
Turn them off
In You, turn off Remind me before picks lock, or mute a single league. To stop all notifications, use the Settings app.
Troubleshooting
Common questions.
No code arrived
Check spam and promotions for a message from ontherecord@utilava.com. A code lasts 10 minutes; you can ask for up to five an hour.
Scores look behind
Scores refresh about every minute during games. The time of the last update is under the standings.
Delete your account
In You, tap Delete account. Your sign-in, name and league list are erased; in leagues you played, your past results stay under 'Former player' so standings don't change.
Contact
How to reach us.
Email support@utilava.com for support requests, bug reports and feedback; we usually reply within one business day. You can also use the Contact page.
