About
What the app does.
On the Record is an office pool app with nothing in the way: no ads, no sponsored content, no upsell. Start a league, invite people with a code or link, and everyone makes their picks each week. Standings update about once a minute during games.
It runs on iPhone, and every member can also play in a web browser at the On the Record web app, free.

What you and your players need.
What it costs
Free in any web browser for everyone, the commissioner included: you can start and run a whole league there. The $3.99 iPhone app adds pick reminders: a nudge two hours before picks lock, only when you still have games to pick. On the Record doesn't handle money: no buy-ins and no payouts.
What each player needs
An email address. Players sign in with a 6-digit code we email them (no password) and choose the name the league sees. Someone who won't sign in can be added by name instead; see How sealing works below.
How many players
No limit on players in a league, or on how many leagues you run.
Android
Android players use the browser, with everything the iPhone app has except reminders, which are iPhone only. An Android app is planned.
Which games
Pro football (18 regular-season weeks, all four formats) and pro basketball (Best 5 and Last One Standing). Playoff games aren't included.
Starting mid-season
Every Game, Best 5 and Confidence leagues can start any week: each player's season counts from the week they join, and earlier weeks aren't scored.
Tiebreakers and tied games
In Every Game, Best 5 and Confidence, the tiebreaker is a guess at the combined points in the week's last game; the closest guess wins, and it stays sealed until that game starts. A tied game scores nothing, or half points if the league chooses.

Basketball leagues play five featured games a week; football leagues pick every game and star their best.
Confidence
Rank your picks. A right pick scores its rank, with a tiebreaker on total points.
Last One Standing
One team a week, never the same team twice. A loss puts you out.
How sealing works
Why nobody can peek, and the one exception.
The picks never leave the server early
Our server holds every pick. Until a game locks, it leaves other players' picks out of everything it sends, from the standings to live updates, to every member, commissioners included. The screen isn't hiding them: they never reach anyone's phone or browser.
Locked means locked
Each game locks at its own kickoff, unless the league chooses to lock every pick at the first game of the day or the week. After that the server refuses any change, from anyone.
Receipts
Every save, lock and rule change goes on the league's receipts with the time to the second: who saved, how many picks, for whom and for which week, but never which team. Nobody can edit them.
The Record
Once a game locks, everyone's pick for it appears side by side.
Players added by name
A commissioner can add someone who won't sign in and enter that person's picks, before kickoff only, and each save goes on the receipts. Those picks are hidden from the other players, but the league's commissioners can see them, since one of them typed them in. If that matters in your pool, have everyone sign in with their own email: it's free in any browser.

Receipts and The Record
Every save, lock and rule change is timestamped and can't be edited. The Record shows everyone's picks once each game locks.
Every number explained
Tap anyone in the standings to see their week pick by pick, plus season standings and each player's history.
Simple or Expert
Rules read as plain sentences. Expert leagues add confidence ranking, strikes, the number of games that count, and season scoring.
For the commissioner
Add players who don't use the app and enter their picks, make co-commissioners, rename the league or remove a player.
Reminders that respect you
On iPhone, a reminder two hours before picks lock, only if you still have games to pick.
Buying and refunds
How paying through the App Store works.
One price, once
When it launches: $3.99 in the App Store for the iPhone app; players join free in any web browser. No in‑app purchases and no subscription.
A new phone
Once you buy it, the purchase will belong to your Apple Account. On another iPhone signed in with the same account, open the App Store, tap your account picture, then Apps, and download On the Record again at no charge.
Refunds
Apple handles the payment, so refunds go through Apple: ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com (opens in a new tab). If something isn't working, tell us first at support@utilava.com; we'd rather fix it.
